Reducing Response Time in Network Management Tasks by Using Mobile Agent Strategies

چکیده
This paper aims to investigate mobile agent tradeoos in network management by performing management task simulations. The mobile agent performs better than the SNMP when the number of managed network elements ranges between two limits: an inferior bound, associated with the number of messages that traverse backbone links, and a superior bound, related to the incremental size of the mobile agent, which turns migration diicult. This paper focuses on the performance analysis of two unload strategies to reduce the response time for the mobile agent: in the rst approach, the mobile agent returns to the management station; in the second one, the mobile agent just sends data to the management station, both after visiting a xed number of nodes. Results show that the response time decreases by 62, and 64%, for the rst and second strategies, when compared with gathering all data without returning or sending these data to management station before nishing the task.

An Infrastructure for Distributed and Dynamic Network Management based on Mobile Agent Technology
The use of Mobile Agent technology to distribute and delegate management tasks promises to overcome the scalability and flexibility limitations of the centralised Network Management paradigm. An efficient, lightweight infrastructure based on Mobile Agents is described, which addresses these issues by distributing management operations amongst managed devices and hence reducing processing load a...

متن کاملA Study of the Behaviour of the Mobile Agent in the Network Management Systems
This paper investigates the performance management of two different size networks using mobile agents. The performance metrics studied are the response time, traffic and utilisation. Mobile agent performance is analysed through management task simulations using an Optimised Network Engineering Tool (OPNET). Four simulation scenarios were implemented in networks; two with no load applied and two...
متن کاملA Formal Petri Net Based Model for Antivirus Update Agent System
In this paper, a formal model for antivirus update agent system is presented based on mobile agent technology and predicate/transition Petri nets. The mobile agent system contains two mobile agents called DCA and UNA. It sends out agents to update antivirus on client computers in a network. Each agent takes on a specified responsibility. First, DCA roams through the network and check the last d...
